This plant is the result of a chance hybrid between M. kobus and M. stellata ‘Rosea’.

The purple-pink flowers generally bloom in mid to late April in Boston, followed by the leaves.

It is a vigorous and beautiful hybrid worthy of greater use in home landscapes. Reaches 20'-30' with an equal or greater spread.
